Community Profile: Zach

The Community Profile is a weekly interview with a member of our MOSAIC engage community. Each week you’ll learn something new about MOSAIC engage and the people who are here to serve the Vancouver newcomer community.

Who are you?

My name is Zach and I’m the Program Coordinator for the English classes at MOSAIC engage. I am the person who runs the program and supports all of our instructors and students with whatever they need.

What is your favourite thing about working at MOSAIC?

When we start a new class, everyone is so shy and quiet, but by the last day everyone is laughing and chatting together in English with their new friends. I love to see that confidence our students build over their time with us.

Do you teach any classes?

I actually started as a teacher with MOSAIC in 2019. I taught Advanced and IELTS classes. But these days I am focusing on the management side. However, I do substitute for our teachers once in a while. Plus, every week I run a free drop-in conversation group for newcomers, so I get to be in the classroom for a bit.

When is the conversation group?

Every Wednesday from 5-6pm! Come check it out!

What do you like to do outside MOSAIC?

I love cycling and now that the weather is getting nicer, I hope I can start cycling to work again every morning!
