Before the Test

How much is the IELTS test fee?

It's $ 340 = all inclusive.

The IELTS test fee is the same for both versions of the test (Academic and General Training).


 

 

What do I need to register for IELTS?

To register for your IELTS test you will need a valid ID. The ID has to be a valid passport, Canadian Permanent Residence Card or Refugee Protection Claimant Document (RPCD). No other ID documents are accepted. You will need to upload it on your account. Please make sure to upload the coloured scanned copy of one of these documents and bring the same original to the test.

 

 

Can I cancel or postpone my IELTS registration?

You may cancel your test until 14 days before your test. Please check out our cancellation and refund policy.

 

 

My test isn’t confirmed in my portal”

Due to unprecedented demand your payment can take up to 5-6 business days to add to your test portal because we have to input each payment manually. If you have made the payment and received a receipt, please do not worry. Your payment will be added. If your test is within next 3-5 days, please let us know by submitting an inquiry form. Once the payment is added and Passport ID is approved, you will receive a full confirmation via email from the British Council.

 

 

I am having trouble uploading my ID and am getting warnings from the British Council that my test will be cancelled?

You can upload your ID directly to your British Council account. Please do so within 3 days of registering for the test. To make sure it is not rejected make sure it is a clear colour scan of your biographic page of the Passport. My test was cancelled because of not uploading my id in time. What can I do?

No worries if your test gets cancelled due to not uploading your ID we can schedule you for a new date. Note there is a small fee associated with this and future test dates are subject to availability. For more information on this please visit our refund and cancellation page.

 

 

During the Test

What is the sequence of different parts of the test? Do all parts take place on the same day?

The Listening, Reading and Writing components of the test are always completed altogether with no break. Speaking test may take place on the same day in the afternoon or a couple of days before or after the test date for Listening, Reading and Writing. Mosaic Engage offers different time slots for Speaking test on first come first serve basis.

 

 

What items/ material can I or need to bring to the exam hall?

You must bring you valid ID (Passport or PR card), used to register IELTS. You may only bring your own pencils, eraser and a clear water bottle with no writing on that. You must leave everything else out of the exam room. All mobile phones or digital devices must be switched off and place in the Cloakroom managed by MOSAIC Engage. If you do not switch off these devices or keep with you during the exam, you may be disqualified.

 

 

Can I write in capital letters?

Yes. You may write in capital letters in the IELTS Listening, Reading and Writing components.

 

 

Do I need to bring my ID again for the Speaking test?

Yes, you must bring your Valid ID (Passport/ PR card) for the speaking test. You ID will be checked, and finger will be scanned before you enter the interview room.

 

 

Can I write in the Question booklets?

Yes, you may write on Listening, Reading and Writing question booklets but the examiner will not check those notes.


 

 

How do I order my TRF?

Before your speaking test we will ask you your preference on how to pick up your TRF. You can choose one of two options.

  1. Mail via non-registered mail,

  2. Mail via registered mail.

    Changes to your preference cannot be made after the test day. Unfortunately If you choose the non-registered mail option you cannot contact us in regards to non-arrival of your TRF. We are not liable for delayed arrival and due to COVID delays in delivery of mail are common. Once sent we cannot provide further information about your package.

 

Can I wear a watch?

Unfortunately you cannot wear a watch in the test. We will have a timer up on the smartboard so you will always know how much time is left in each section. We will also have a wall clock for your convenience.

 

 

In the CD IELTS Test can I take notes

Yes we will provide you with one paper and one pencil to take notes. At the end of the test we will take this piece of paper to shred. We will also provide this for paper based tests

 

 

After the Test

When can I get my result?

As mentioned above you can pick-up your results in person, have them mailed to you via non-registered mail, or via registered mail. For in-person pick we require a valid government ID (Passport or PR Card).

Please see below the time frame for collecting your results.

  1. IELTS on Paper Test Report Forms (TRFs) will be available to you on 13th Calendar day after your test date. Please see above for the 3 options for getting your results.

  2. IELTS on Computer, Test Report Forms (TRFs) will be available to you on 5th Calendar day after your test date.

 

 

Can I retake the test? After how long?

Yes, you can retake the test and you can do so immediately without a waiting period

 

 

Can I ask for a re-marking of my test?

Yes, You can apply for a re-mark. It is called an EOR (Enquiry on Results). Requests must be submitted within 6 weeks of the test. You need to pay an enquiry fee, which is fully refundable if your band score changes. Please see details in our EOR page.

 

 

How is IELTS scored?

IELTS results are reported on a 9-band scale.
IELTS results are designed to be simple and easy to understand. They are reported as band scores on a scale from 1 (the lowest) to 9 (the highest).

 

 

What is the IELTS results validity period?

While it is up to each organization to set a validity period that works for their purposes, the IELTS partners recommend a 2-year validity period for IELTS test results based upon the well-documented phenomenon of second language loss or ‘attrition’.
