FAQs - IELTS on Paper - Cancellation May & June 2026

Why has the paper-based test has been cancelled?

  • The IELTS Partners — British Council, IDP, and Cambridge University Press and Assessment — must cancel this test for operational reasons across all of Canada. They have also instructed all test center's nationwide to close future registrations for upcoming paper‑based sessions.

What is the format of the IELTS on Computer (IOC) test?

  • The IELTS computer-based test (CDIELTS) covers Listening (29-32 minutes), Reading (60 minutes), and Writing (60 minutes) on a computer (approx. 2.5 hours total), with a face-to-face Speaking test.

  • It features faster results (1–5 days), more frequent dates, and built-in tools like a word counter and highlighting. The content, timing, and marking are identical to paper-based tests, but answers are typed directly. \

*The only difference is in the Listening section as there is no extra time (10 minutes) to transfer your answers. They need to be typed directly when the audio is playing.

Will I get a full refund if I opt to cancel the test? By when can I expect the refund?

  • A full refund will be issued to you. You can expect the refund by May 22nd, in the same bank account you used during registration.

Can I book IELTS on Paper (IOP) for any future date?

  • Unfortunately, the IELTS Partners have instructed on closing all future registrations for paper-based tests, due to which no other dates are available.

Will my speaking test also be cancelled?

  • The full test (including the speaking test) has been cancelled. If you proceed with a transfer to a computer-based test, we will be rescheduling your speaking test according to the new test date you book.

Would all the 4 components be conducted on the same day?

  • Generally, yes, all the 4 components are scheduled for the same day. The Speaking test is before or after your LRW Test. The confirmation email will contain the Speaking test time.

When can I get the new exam date booked for the IELTS on Computer (IOC) test?

  • We will be following the date selected by you in the MS Form for booking your new test. In case of any changes, we will reach back to you.

*Please note that the requests will be approved on a first-come first-served basis.
