During the Test

What is the sequence of different parts of the test? Do all parts take place on the same day?

In-person Test: You will be placed in the exam room with 3-5 other test takers with more than enough space for social distancing. You will do the Writing test first for 30 minutes and then a Reading test for 30 minutes.

It’s possible that you will be asked to go with the assessor for the Speaking and Listening portions before or after these tests. The Speaking and Listening portions of the test are done in a separate room with a live speaking assessor.

CLBPT Remote: Reading test is 30 minutes and the Writing test is 30 minutes. Both are done on the online website platform with assistance by the invigilator. The Speaking and Listening tests are done together in a separate breakout room with the assessor. It is 15-20 minutes long.

What items/ material can I or need to bring to the exam hall?

You must bring your valid ID, used to register for CLBPT. You may only bring your own pencils, eraser and a clear water bottle with no writing. You must leave everything else out of the exam room. All mobile phones or digital devices must be switched off and placed on the front desk managed by MOSAIC Engage. If you do not switch off these devices or keep them with you during the exam, you may be disqualified.

Can I write in capital letters?

We prefer that clients do not write in capital letters as it is more difficult for the assessor to assess punctuation or capitalization.

Can I write in the Question booklets or papers?

CLBPT In-person: You cannot write in the Reading booklet, so we will provide an answer sheet for Reading Test. For the Writing Tasks, you are given paper booklets in which to write your answers.

CLBPT Remote: You are required to type your answers into text boxes that appear on the screen.

Can I wear a watch?

Yes, you may wear a watch during the exam. We will also have a timer up on the whiteboard so you will always know how much time is left in each section. The Invigilator will give you a 10-minute warning before the end of the test.

In the Speaking and Listening Test can I take notes?

In-person Exam: You cannot take notes during the speaking and listening portion of the test.

CLBPT Remote: You cannot take notes during the speaking and listening portion of the test.

Can I retake the test? After how long?

Can I ask for a re-marking of my test?

Yes, You can apply for an appeal or re-evaluation of one test score and only if you have serious concerns about the delivery or conditions of the test. Examples of serious conditions are if there was a technical problem with the test or some kind of distraction in the room (like noise, construction etc.) A disappointing score is not acceptable for re-evaluation.
If you think your test needs re-evaluation due to valid reasons, please fill out the request form by clicking HERE. Please remember that your case will be evaluated for eligibility by our admin team first. If your request is eligible for Re-evaluation, you will be contacted by test center for further process. Re-evaluation can only be done in person. The Admin fee is non-refundable, even if your request does not qualify for re-evaluation.

*Make sure that if you face any technical problems then you report them to our testing team during the test and submit the form. If the technical problems are mentioned after the test results are released, then those requests will not be considered towards re-evaluation.

How is CLBPT scored?

CLBPT results are reported on a 12-level scale. We do not test all levels of that scale at our centre. We test up to a level of 8. They are reported as level scores on a scale from PB (Pre-Benchmark, which is the lowest) to 8 (the highest).

What is the CLBPT results validity period?

The CLBPT has a 2-year validity period for test results based upon the well-documented phenomenon of second language loss or ‘attrition’.
