Tell us about yourself.
My name is Catherine Ortiz. I´m from Colombia, I studied Finances, I have a postgraduate in Financial Risk, and in April 2024 I finished my MBA. I´ve been here in Vancouver for 3 months. My family and I moved to Canada to find new opportunities for my son and for us, I need to improve my English skills especially speaking skill to get the best job opportunity. At this moment I'm looking for a Job.
How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?
In my free times, my family and I go to church in English, and also try to know new places as Whistler, and shopping malls. I try to talk in English with my Colombian friends, but I would like to know new people and share and practice my English.
What are some challenges you’ve faced with moving to Canada?
The biggest challenges that I have faced since I´ve been here is find job and adapting a new people, culture sometimes eating new foods, and different environments.
Which place would you recommend to someone visiting your country?
Definitely, I would like to suggest visiting San Andres island is a beautiful place that has an awesome beach and you can feel connected with the nature, life ,etc.
What are you hoping to achieve during your time at MOSAIC?
I hope to feel more comfortable when I need to talk in English, gain more vocabulary to express my ideas better; and get confidence in myself.
