Tell us about yourself.

I’m Nafiseh, but my friends call me Nafas. I come from Iran and arrived in Vancouver in December 2023. Currently, my family and I have been living here. I am looking for a job as a social worker, and securing funds is important to me.

How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?

In my free time, I enjoy the beautiful scenery in Vancouver, with the ocean on one side and mountains on the other. I prefer spending my leisure time walking near the sea and enjoying nature.

What some challenges you’ve faced with moving to Canada?

Moving to Canada has presented several challenges. Adapting to a new currency, as my country uses the Riyal while Canada uses the Canadian Dollar, has been difficult. Additionally, the economic differences between the two countries have posed challenges.

Which place would you recommend to someone visiting your country?

If someone were to visit my country, I would recommend Shiraz and Kish Island. Both places offer amazing natural beauty and hospitable people. Visitors can enjoy delicious food, explore historical sites, and find perfect souvenirs to take home.

How are you enjoying your time at MOSAIC?

I am enjoying my time at MOSAIC. Despite learning English in my country, I struggled to speak fluently upon arriving here. After facing rejection from several institutions due to missed sign-up deadlines, I found MOSAIC. Munveer's exceptional behavior helped me enroll, thank's to her and I'm grateful for Jordi, a friendly teacher whose class is both enjoyable and exciting. I am learning to speak, write, and read professionally, and I hope to achieve even more success in the future.
