This week, our student Russ told us about her experience immigrating to Vancouver and attending classes at MOSAIC engage. Thanks for sharing with us, Russ!
My name is Russ. I am from Hong Kong. I came to Vancouver three months ago. I was a primary school teacher in Hong Kong. I resigned from my job because my mother is sick and I hope to spend more time with her in the rest of her life.
It is a challenge for me to start a new life in Vancouver. First, I have to speak English in my daily life. However, I can’t express myself quite well. Sometimes, I misunderstand what other people mean when I talk with them in English. I hope to improve my English, both in listening and oral speaking. Therefore, I study English in Mosaic English centre.
I took the ESL classes last May. The teacher is really helpful and professional. He corrected our pronounciation and taught us how to talk like a Canadian. Meanwhile, he taught the vocabularies with many different examples. I learned a lot from him. Also, I want to say THANK YOU to all the staff of Mosaic. They are friendly and helpful. I have recommended my friend who moved to Vancouver last month. I think Mosaic is a good place for people who learn English as the second language.
