Events in Vancouver: Cherry Blossoms Celebrations in Yaletown

Vancouver was recently voted as one of the top destinations in the world to view cherry blossoms! You can see the delicate pink flowers in full bloom (and even smell their floral fragrance) in most Vancouver parks and along streets in almost every neighbourhood of the city and its suburbs.

Here are some upcoming free events to view and celebrate the beginning of Spring against the picturesque background of cherry blossoms:

The Yaletown Pop-up Event will be held on Thursday, March 28th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Bill Curtis Square which is located just outside of the entrance to the Yaletown-Roundhouse Skytrain Station.

Watch Taiko drumming which celebrates Okinawan cultural heritage from Japan as well as Chinese Fan Dance and other local performers.

Down the street, at Yaletown’s David Lam Park, experience the magic of Blossoms After Dark! This 3-evening event will be held from Friday, March 29th to Sunday, March 31st from 6:00-10:00 PM and will feature multiple performances by musicians as well as mystical bubble performances and graceful flow dancers. Various food vendors will be on site.

The Big Picnic will also be at David Lam Park on Saturday, March 30th from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. This event will celebrate the traditional Japanese pastime of Hanami (花見) which translates to “flower viewing” and includes an array of performances as well as activities and workshops. Once again, various food vendors will be on site and event- goers can also pre-order a Blossom Bento from the Minami restaurant!
