Language of the Day: CLBPT

What is the CLBPT? That’s a question we hear a lot at MOSAIC engage. So today’s language of the day is all about this acronym!

The CLBs are a system used in Canada to measure English language proficiency. It stands for Canadian Language Benchmarks. This system describes what a non-native English speaker can do at each level of proficiency, on a scale from 1-12. It looks at all four skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, and of course, Speaking.

The CLBPT stands for Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Test, and this is the test that measures your Canadian Language Benchmark level. The test can be done online or in person.

Your CLBPT results can help you understand your language level according to the leading Canadian standard for measuring English, and be used for placement into language training programs or workplace training programs with a language component.

However, the most common reason to take the CLBPT at MOSAIC is for entering Health Care Assistant/Aide Programs.

If you need to test your English for one of these programs, MOSAIC engage is here to help. Check out our website https://engage.mosaicbc.org/clbpt to learn everything you need to know about the CLBPT and even sign up online directly!
