Tell us about yourself!

Hi, my name is Anaid Ramirez. I'm from Mexico and I live in Vancouver. I'm currently studying English because I want to improve my communication skills, especially speaking.

How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?

In my free time, I enjoy hiking and exercising. Vancouver has beautiful trails, and I love exploring nature. One of my favourite trails is the Colony Farm in Port Coquitlam.

What is the best place in Vancouver to get food from your country?

In my opinion, the best place in Vancouver to get Mexican food is Miltomates. They have really good tacos that taste like real Mexican food. If someone wants to try authentic Mexican food in Vancouver, I would definitely recommend this place."

What some challenges you’ve faced with moving to Canada?

One of the biggest challenges l've faced after moving to Canada is the language barrier.

Another challenge is adjusting to the weather. I like the cold, but Vancouver's rainy days can sometimes feel a bit long. However, I've found ways to enjoy them, like going to restaurants or shopping.

What are you hoping to achieve during your time at MOSAIC?

At Mosaic, I hope to improve my English, especially my speaking and listening skills. I want to feel more confident when having conversations and understanding native speakers.

I also want to expand my vocabulary and improve my grammar so l can communicate better in everyday situations.
