Community Profile: Chelsea

The Community Profile is a weekly interview with a member of our MOSAIC engage community.

This week, meet Chelsea, one of the instrcutors here at MOSAIC engage!

Who are you and what do you do at MOSAIC?

I am an English teacher who has been teaching since 2015. I’m teaching one of the intermediate English classes at MOSAIC engage. Originally I was just substituting for my colleague, James, while he was on vacation, but I had such a wonderful experience, I decided to stay on for a while longer. Next term, I’ll have my own intermediate class and I’m looking forward to meeting a new group of students.

What do you like about working at MOSAIC?

I love the supportive team that we have as well as meeting all the wonderful friendly students. It’s a really fun atmosphere to learn and teach in! Everyone is so motivated to learn practical English and I’m really enjoying the vibe in the classroom.

What are your favorite hidden gems (café, restaurant, or literally anything) in Vancouver?

My favourite restaurant in town is Heirloom, which is a vegetarian place on Granville, but I also love going to Van Dusen Gardens. They have more than beautiful plants and flowers. There’s even a restaurant that not many people know about.

What do you do besides teaching?

In my spare time I like hiking, biking, and doing genealogy research. I’m also really into gardening these days. You can often find me in my little plot of the community garden, tending to my tomatoes and other plants.

Any fun facts you would like to share, about MOSAIC, Vancouver, or you?

Did you know that Coca-Cola is the same age as the City of Vancouver?
