We’re excited to introduce you to Ellie, one of our afternoon ESL students at MOSAIC Engage!

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hi, I'm Ellie from Taipei, Taiwan. I've been in Canada for about two years. I still miss Taiwan's hot, humid weather and amazing food, but I'm enjoying life here more and more. I really love the friendly people and the beautiful nature here, especially the mountains, the ocean, the lakes, the creeks, and the night sky.

How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?

On my days off, I like going for a run at Central Park. If I have more time, I'll head to English Bay because I love the vibe there, especially in the summer. And on a perfect day, I'll go hiking on the North Shore, have lunch at a viewpoint, and just relax in the sun.

What are some of the challenges you've faced moving to Canada?

The biggest challenge is definitely the language. I'm still improving my English every day. I really enjoy the people and culture here, so being more fluent will help me connect with others even better.

What place would you recommend to someone visiting Canada for the first time?

Besides English Bay, you have to visit Stanley Park. It's absolutely breathtaking. I'd also recommend spending two days in Vancouver Island. The scenery there is unlike anywhere else in the world.
