Please tell us about yourself and what you do at MOSAIC?

I came to Vancouver from Ukraine two years ago. At first, I started learning English by myself, and for the last eight months I have been taking online lessons with a tutor.

I joined MOSAIC English School because I wanted to get more speaking practice and to learn more about other teaching methods.

Since studying at MOSAIC, I have had much more opportunity to practice speaking, and I can already see my progress. The classes are friendly and interactive, and I feel more confident using English in daily life. I’m very glad to study here and I really appreciate this experience.

What are some of your favourite places to visit in and around Vancouver?

I like Stanley Park and English Bay in Vancouver. I like to walk and see the mountains. I also like Granville Island for it's market and small shops.

Outside Vancouver, I like Victoria and Kelowna. Victoria is a beautiful city, I have very fond memories of it. The first time I flew in a helicopter was on a trip to Victoria.

What advice do you have for students who are new to learning English?

My advice for new English students is to practice every day. Speak English with friends or teachers. Listen to English podcasts and read simple books. Don’t be afraid of mistakes. Find the teaching method that works for you and helps you in your learning.

Tell us about one of the best places you’ve travelled to and where would you like to go next?

One of the best places I have travelled to is Kelowna. I went there with my daughter and her friends. We drove by car and enjoyed the view of the mountains and the lake. We also visited wineries and vineyards. The vineyards had green grapevines, the wineries made different kinds of wine. I really enjoyed the nature, the wine and the new experiences.

For my next adventure I would love to visit Venice, Italy. The city is beautiful, with canals and boats. I want to see St. Mark's Square, the Basilica, and the bell tower. I would like to ride a gondola on the Grand Canal and see the Rialto Bridge. I also want to try pasta, pizza and Gelato. A trip to Venice is my dream.
