Tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Maeva! I'm a 3D artist and I work in the field of animated film. Ever since I was little, I've been exploring the world. I'm a creative person who loves adventure, but I also enjoy relaxing with a good book and a glass of wine.
How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?
There's still so much for me to discover, I've only been in Vancouver for six months! In my free time, I love going for walks and taking in the beautiful landscape. Usually, I grab a coffee and walk along the seawall, or I go hiking to explore new lakes.
What are some of the challenges you’ve faced moving to Canada?
I first settled in Quebec City when I arrived in Canada, as I am French I adapted fairly easily because it feels a bit like Europe there. Settling in Vancouver was a little harder because I wasn’t very fluent in English yet. Plus, I had to meet new people and build a whole new circle of friends. That’s actually why I signed up for English classes: to learn the language while meeting people!
What place would you recommend to someone visiting Canada for the first time?
For nature lovers, hikers, and outdoor adventure enthusiasts, British Columbia is an ideal destination, offering a wide range of seasonal activities such as kayaking, surfing, and hiking. On the other hand, if you enjoy a lively city nightlife, cultural festivals, and the energy of a multicultural city where you can immerse yourself in a new language, Montreal is an exceptional choice.
