Tell us about yourself.
Hello everyone, my name is Maria Eugenia and I am from Mexico. I have a degree in business administration in my country. I love travelling, meeting new places, making new friends as well as trying new flavours of food. In March 2020 I came on holiday to Vancouver with some friends for only two weeks. I liked the city, its surroundings and multiculturalism so much that I decided to come back in 2022 to study and work.
How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?
In my free time, I like to go out and visit new places, go hiking, or attend activities that take place according to the season of the year. I prefer to visit places with mountains rather than going to the beach. I also like to spend time with my friends and learn more about them, their families, and their culture.
What are some challenges you’ve faced with moving to Canada?
The challenges I have faced in coming to live in Canada have been the language, the cold weather, finding a place to live, medical care, and the cost of living.
Which place would you recommend to someone visiting your country?
In Mexico, there are many beautiful tourist places to visit. If you want sun and beach, then I recommend you to visit Cancun, Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Vallarta, and Los Cabos. If you prefer to get to know a bit more about the culture and traditions I recommend going to Chichen Itza, Mexico City, Oaxaca, and Chiapas.
What are you hoping to achieve during your time at MOSAIC?
In MOSAIC I am taking the IELTS exam course. I hope to improve my skills in the areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
