Tell us about yourself
I’m Minju, from South Korea. When I first came to Canada, it was meant to be a short stay, but I quickly fell in love with the natural beauty here and decided to make it home. The very first thought that popped into my head was, “I need my dog here with me.” At that time, he was still back in Korea, and I couldn’t imagine building a life here without him. Now, he is here with me, we get to enjoy this wonderful city together from peaceful walks in the park to discovering new trails and every day feels like a little adventure.
What's your role at MOSAIC Engage?
I am a Program Support Worker; my main job is to help and support students throughout their time with us. I’m here to assist with understanding programs, answering questions, and making sure everyone has the resources they need to succeed. Whether it's explaining processes, offering guidance, or connecting you to the right help. If you ever need assistance or have any questions, feel free to come to me – I’m always ready to help in any way I can.
What are some of your favourite places to visit in and around Vancouver?
I love wandering around to find amazing sunset spots, and one of my favorites is near Squamish at Porteau Cove. It’s a park known for its stunning scenery, especially during sunset. The views there are absolutely breathtaking and always make for a peaceful and memorable experience.
What advice do you have for students who are new to learning English?
My advice for students new to learning English is to not stress too much about how you speak at first. It’s normal to feel nervous, but what matters most is the progress you’re making. As long as you’re improving, you're on the right track! Set small, realistic goals that are easy to reach, and celebrate your progress along the way. Language learning is all about taking one step at a time, and every new word or sentence is an achievement. Don’t worry about making mistakes—they’re just part of the journey!
