Tell us a bit about yourself
Hi! My name is Miran, and I’m from Japan. I am a university student studying multicultural and international cooperation. I took a leave of absence from university and came to Vancouver on a working holiday two months ago. I decided to come to Canada because I wanted to improve my English skills, experience a different culture, and meet people from around the world.
How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?
In my free time, I enjoy exploring Vancouver with my friends. We like walking around beaches and finding new restaurants to try. In Japan, I often played acoustic guitar when I had free time, so I would like to buy a guitar in Vancouver and continue playing here as well.
What are some of the challenges you’ve faced moving to Canada?
Since I lived with my family in Japan, one of the biggest challenges has been doing all the housework by myself every day. I am still getting used to managing everything on my own, and it has been a new experience for me. I would also like to improve my cooking skills during my time in Vancouver and learn how to make different dishes.
What place would you recommend to someone visiting Canada for the first time?
I would recommend Spanish Banks Beach Park. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the ocean, mountains, and Vancouver’s city skyline all at once. It is also less crowded compared to other beaches, which makes it a peaceful and relaxing place. I personally love calm places surrounded by nature, so I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Vancouver for the first time.
