Tell us about yourself.
Hi everyone, my name is Rocky. I am from Taiwan and I just arrived to Vancouver a few days ago. I like watching movies, Netflix and Disney Plus in my free time. I also like to listen to music and play in a band with my friends. I am glad to join this new MOSAIC family and can't wait to make some friends in Canada!
How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?
As I just arrived in Vancouver on April 18th, I am a freshman here and still unfamiliar with the environment. However, I will try to find some time to discover Vancouver, go hiking or attend local activities.
What are some challenges you’ve faced with moving to Canada?
1. Different culture, different food and different lifestyle.
2. The expenses are much higher than in Taiwan.
3. Full English environment.
Which place would you recommend to someone visiting your country?
I would recommend Taipei and Kenting. Taipei is the biggest city in Taiwan. Taipei has perfect MRT system and abundant public transportation.
Everyone can travel around the whole city easily, to visit famous spots like Taipei 101, Yangmingshan, Fort Santo Domingo in Tamsui and Shilin Night Markets.
About Kenting, it is the southernmost in Taiwan. It has beautiful beach side, and it also has one National Park and Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium that tourists can visit.
What are you hoping to achieve during your time at MOSAIC?
I want to enhance my English in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. I hope I can speak English more fluently and more like a native speaker.
