Tell us about yourself.
I’m from Peru and I’m 24 years old. I arrived in Vancouver one or two years ago. I remember when I first got here here, I couldn’t speak very well and understand when I was listening, but as time passed I improved a lot. I can have a conversation with someone and I can speak to them.
How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?
I like to go to the library to study. I have University classes online. I like to study about my career and programming, and I like to learn French. I also work as a manager in a restaurant in Vancouver.
Which place would you recommend to someone visiting your country?
Most tourists go to Machu Pichu or Cusco. It’s a good place because I think it’s one of the 7 wonders of the world. It’s beautiful and historical because of the Inca civilization and you can see the buildings and how the civilization was constructed.
What advice do you have for students who are new to learning English?
The first is to learn a lot of vocabulary because sometimes people focus on grammar, but it’s good to learn prepositions to know how to connect words.
What are you hoping to achieve during your time at MOSAIC?
The English conversation group is helping me improve my English because I can learn more words and improve my vocabulary. The teachers help me improve my grammar and correct me.
