Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Shaida, and I am from Peru. I have been living in Vancouver since January 2026 with my husband, my two children, and my pet.

How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?

On weekends, I try to visit different lakes around Vancouver. I think they are beautiful, and they help me relax.

What are some of the challenges you’ve faced moving to Canada?

I think there are three main challenges when moving to Canada. The first is obviously the English language. The second is understanding how Canadian people think and do things. And the third is that I miss my family in Peru so much. 

What place would you recommend to someone visiting Canada for the first time?

I recommend riding a bike in Stanley Park because you can see the beach and the ocean all the time. I also recommend Science World because there are many activities where you can play and learn at the same time.
