Events in Vancouver: Canine Library at John Hendry Park!
The Canine Library is back this Saturday at John Hendry Park, just a few blocks away from our Commercial Drive MOSAIC engage Centre! This unique event gives you the chance to not only pet, but also to read books to therapy dogs!
This event offers attendees the chance to read poetry from a collection curated by Vancouver Public Library to their canine companions. Adding to the festivities, VPL’s Writer in Residence will host a poetry workshop at this rain or shine literary party in the park.
The Canine Library provides a nurturing environment where participants can read to therapy dogs from the St. John Ambulance’s Therapy Dog Program.
Petting a dog is also proven to aid in emotional regulation, an important social and emotional skill. This initiative highlights the value of reading, literacy, and pet-friendly park spaces in promoting community connections and contributing to mental health and physical well-being.
