Events in Vancouver: Italian Day on the Drive
Celebrate Italian culture at one of Vancouver’s most anticipated street festivals on Commercial Drive on Sunday, June 9th from noon to 8:00 PM!
Italian Day on the Drive is back this year with a fun-filled event full of live music and entertainment, delicious Italian food and drinks, and other activities.
This annual event takes place over 14 blocks on Commercial Drive also known as The Drive between Venables Street and Grandview Hwy, which is just one block north of Broadway and our Engage office!
Each year, the Italian Day Festival reflects a different theme. For 2024, the theme is “storia” which means history or story in Italian and represents the idea of storytelling as well as keeping traditions and values alive between generations.
Vancouver experienced a large wave of Italian immigrants after the second world war, and The Drive developed into a true Italian enclave with Italian businesses and residents between the 1940s-1980s.
Commercial Drive still retains elements of Italian culture and heritage which comes alive on the Italian Day Festival!
On June 9th, seven intersections along Commercial Drive will be transformed into Italian-style Piazzas featuring live music, DJs, fashion shows, and street dancing!
Local businesses and restaurants will also set up outdoor patios where you can enjoy traditional Italian food, snacks, and a variety of drinks in addition to cuisine from other cultures!
This festival not only celebrates Italian culture, it also celebrates the eclectic and diverse vibe of Commercial Drive and everyone is welcome to attend this free event!
