Tell us about yourself.

Hello everyone, I’m Carol from Taiwan. I have been in Canada almost for 2 years. I’m a student studying hospitality management and business management. My hobbies are watching K-dramas, sleeping, and eating. I love the weather, culture, people, and nature in Vancouver.

How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?

In my free time, I love to sleep late and enjoy my me-time all day. Maybe go to a coffee shop and stay all day or buy a cup of coffee then go to the beach and enjoy the sea and weather. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends.

What some challenges you’ve faced with moving to Canada?

The first challenge is definitely language. Also, I need to learn how to live by myself. Before I came to Canada, I never did anything along the way. I always have friends and family with me. Cultural differences and high consumption are also big challenges for me.

Which place would you recommend to someone visiting your country?

Although Taiwan is a small country, But I really recommend you go to the outlying islands. For example, Penghu, Orchid Island, etc. There is an amazing underwater world and a beautiful beach as well. And you must visit the night markets. Enjoy our various street foods. I really miss that.

What are you hoping to achieve during your time at MOSAIC?

At MOSAIC, I learn a lot of English skills and got friends as well. I will be able to be a real English speaker in few months. Not just a small talk person.
