Events in Vancouver: Pride Parade
Pride Week is back in Vancouver! There are lots of Pride events happening in and around the city during the long weekend with the Parade being one of the most fun-filled and colourful celebrations of the summer!
The Vancouver Pride Parade will preside along sections of downtown Vancouver this Sunday, August 4th from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. This year marks the event’s 46th anniversary!
This year, the route will be slightly different from previous years. The parade floats will assemble on the corner of Davie Street and Denman Street by English Bay. The procession will then head down to Beach Avenue and along Pacific Boulevard, and will finish at Concord Community Park where the Pride Festival will take place!
The Pride Festival, also known as VanPrideFest has moved from it’s location at Sunset Beach to Concord Community Park, located at 50 Pacific Boulevard next to Science World. The 2-day festival will be held on Saturday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 4th from noon to 7:00 PM.
The parade and festival are both free to attend! There will be more than one stage with live music and entertainment throughout the day. Expect to see lots of people in colourful costumes at the Pride events!
Vancouver’s Pride Week celebrations occur every year in late July and early August. During this time, members of the Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Gender Diverse, and Intersex (2SLGBTQIA+) communities come together to celebrate living their authentic lives, and to appreciate the important progress made towards realizing equity and understanding alongside friends and allies. This is a time to celebrate both inclusion and individuality and take pride in who you are!
