Tell us about yourself!
My name is Luz. I am from Panama and live in Vancouver with my husband and our cat. I am a lover of cats, nature, and coffee, as well as meeting new people.
My dream always was to live in Canada and learn English. It has come true. Currently, in Mosaic, I am studying English at the Intermediate level. My English has improved compared to five months ago.
How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?
Vancouver is a beautiful city where I can do a lot of activities outdoors. In my spare time, I enjoy walking, running, hiking, and Snowshoeing in different places such as parks, streets, beaches, and mountains. Additionally, I can do social activities like volunteer at the food bank
Where is the best place in Vancouver to get food from your country?
In Vancouver, I have not found a place to get food from my country, but when I eat out, I would rather have the traditional food of Vancouver like candied salmon, B.C. rolls, Japadog, and poutine.
What were some of the challenges you faced when moving to Canada?
I faced two challenges: the language and the different cultures.
What do you hope to accomplish during your time at MOSAIC?
MOSAIC has excellent teachers and a good program to improve my English, but also MOSAIC is a good place to do networking, to learn about other cultures, and more. I hope to improve my English speaking, listening, and writing skills.
