Events in Vancouver: Lunar New Year 2024
This year marks the 50th annual Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Celebration, which celebrates the start of the lunar new year. This year is the year of the dragon in the Chinese zodiac, so expect to see plenty of majestic dragon imagery around town.
With over 5,000 participants and 100,000 spectators, Chinatown will be bustling with family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and more for everyone to enjoy.
You can see dance performances, martial arts, live music, and the largest gathering of lion dance teams in Canada!
The parade is one of the biggest features of the celebration. It will march for 1.3 km starting at 11 am at the Millennium Gate on Pender Street. They will march east along Pender Street and then turn south onto Gore Street. The colourful moving show will then turn west onto Keefer Street and finish at Abbott. The whole parade will take about two and a half hours.
Don’t miss this exciting celebration to ring in the year of the dragon!
