Language of the Day: Mosaic
Let’s take a look at the definition of the word that our organization is named after!
Mosaic is a noun which means a picture or pattern produced by arranging together small colored pieces of hard material, such as stone, tile, or glass.
More broadly, mosaic can be used to describe anything that is made up of many different elements, such as, “the diverse group represented a mosaic of different viewpoints.”
Our organization, MOSAIC, provides employment services, family services, language instruction, legal information, settlement services, and victim and family support services from multiple sites in Lower Mainland to newcomers to Canada, so we truly are a diverse mosaic!
In addition, MOSAIC is also an acronym (an abbreviation formed from the initial letters of other words and pronounced as a word) which stands for Multi-lingual Orientation Service Association for Immigrant Communities. This acronym further integrates MOSAIC’s programs, services, and values!
