Fun, Free, and Educational Activities for Children Ages 6–12
Are you a newcomer parent living in New Westminster? Looking for a fun, educational, and welcoming activity for your child this summer? Enrol them in our School’s Out Summer Reading Club for Newcomer Kids, a free program designed for children ages 6 to 12.
This interactive reading club takes place over 16 afternoons from July 22 to August 15, 2025, at the Welcome Centre in New Westminster. Sessions run from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
Through games, storytelling, and hands-on learning, children will grow their love for reading, build vocabulary, and make new friends in a safe and inclusive space.
Who Can Join?
This program is free and open to newcomer children aged 6–12 who reside in New Westminster. Priority will be given to families connected to the SWIS Program, but all eligible participants are welcome.

August 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15

What We’ll Do
Over the course of the club, children will:
📚 Read exciting books together as a group
🎲 Play fun reading and language games
💬 Learn new words and boost their English vocabulary
💡 Share their favourite stories
🤝 Connect with other newcomer children
No previous experience or materials are required — just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm!
